Totally agree on the main point. It is one thing to assert that we all possess the capacity for empathic connection because of our biology. It is another thing to build organizational practices and systems that support development of such connections among employees, partners, and with customers.

This also brought back to mind a learning from years past. While there could have readily been exceptions found, one of the key reasons that early Nordstrom was so effective and delivering superior service to customers was that they immersed their employees in stellar treatment.

The biggest problem is that so few people know what it 'feels' like they don't know how to portray/project it. There's also the dilemma of having been so conditioned to the negative that even immersing some people in empathic situations, they still shun it because they've developed a shell of cynicism.

This is not a small task to take on.
